I became a nurse because I enjoy educating patients in the hospital and in the community about their health. I learned from talking with my family and friends about their health, that a lot of people are unaware of how much health education can add years to their life. It makes me smile when a patient tells me that they are thankful to receive information that they were not aware of regarding their health. Once you share with them your knowledge and some current research, they leave a better understanding of their health. I work at a Veterans Affairs (VA) facility. I have worked in the areas of medical-surgical nursing and currently work in specialty clinics that include endocrine, ENT, neurology, urology, vascular, and so much more.
