Hobe Sound, FL
PhD, RN, CCRN

Graduating from high school I wanted to be an oceanographer (I loved to swim)! My mother recommended I go to nursing school- and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made! I started as a diploma nurse and found that with a wide range of nursing experiences (critical care, ED, education and management) I was able to travel the world while doing what I love! Some highlights: I have worked on several ships—the Research Vessel Knorr (that found the Titanic) and the Disney Cruise Ships. I was also a travel nurse and found it to be a wonderful way to expand my nursing experiences while discovering the world! Along the way I became certified and completed my PhD. It’s been a fantastic experience to be part of a profession where everything I value (caring for others, compassion, and acquiring new competencies in a variety to settings) all work together to create the profession I see myself in for the rest of my career! I currently am director for a corporate university in the travel nurse sector and also continue bedside nursing working in the CVICU. My advice to all nurses? Take charge of your career and make nursing the best place to work that you possibly can!
