David S.

Fayetteville, TN
LPN; ER, Case Management

My nursing career began 25 years ago with my inspiration always being the people I am serving. When someone is sick, they are at their most vulnerable and need someone to walk them through their sickness to help them feel better. I feel privileged to be in a position to help at such a time.

I first joined Lincoln Regional Hospital (Fayetteville, Tennessee) in 1980 as an X-Ray department aide. While working, I attended the Emergency Medical Technician classes and, after completing EMT classes I enrolled in a hospital-based LPN program that started my Nursing career in 1984. In 1991, I found my true passion in Emergency Department Nursing. Soon after beginning to work in emergency care, I realized that I would meet all different types of people with a wide range of medical issues.

Compassion, friendliness and excellent service for our patients and their families are my top priorities. My patients are never a number - they are always a person to me. My patients are my neighbors, fellow community members, family and friends and I want them to have the best possible care that we can offer. I want my patients to be treated as if they are one of my closest family members, my Mom or Dad.

Nursing has been a wonderful career for me, leading me to many volunteer organizations throughout our community, including: Leadership Lincoln Class of 2000; Elk Valley Times "Best Nurse of Lincoln County" 2006 and 2007; Lincoln County Commission 2000 - 2004; and Junior's House Child Advocacy Center Organization Member.

The most important things to me, as a nurse, is to always know at the end of the day that I have given the best care I can possibly give; to continue to have faith and courage to face the next day; and to always have respect and compassion for all people.
