Juanita H.

El Dorado, AR
RN, Specialty Surgery/Pediatrics

As a child, I have always wanted to help others. Being a nurse gave me the opportunity to do that. I am employed at Medical Center of South Arkansas on the medical-surgical floor. I never know what I will encounter from one day to the next. However, I absolutely love patient contact. I treat every patient the way I would want my parents to be treated. One detail that keeps me going is the patient’s need for a caring nurse. I get them through the pain, the day, the healing process, with constantly evolving technology—machines, more efficient drugs, and patient care—that I continue to learn.

Working on the med-surg floor is a lifelong journey of learning, because there is always something new to learn, skills to master, and challenges to be conquered. This is why I consider nursing the most rewarding profession today.
